Pretty simple assignment here; I asked students to create a "scale" in which they use two complementary colors (any two colors opposite each other on the color wheel) and mix them to get varying degrees of less intense, "neutral" colors.

I believe these are Linzie, Ryan and Chris' scales above. Below is a more detailed scale for understanding the effects of not only complements, but also black and white to lower the intensity of a color so that it looks more natural, or neutral, like an "earth-tone."
