I had a hard enough time listening to the President lie in his debate. He did it rather poorly, but the Vice President was amazing- if you appear calm, hardly move, and speak in a monotone, you can really lie well.
Clinton was known for being legally accurate without being completely truthful. Cheney has taken his crown. HUGE lie after huge lie, carefully worded so that by the letter-of-the-law he doesn't ACTUALLY lie straight out, but he can continue to misrepresent the facts.
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."
